The Rural Philanthropy Roundtable

      

The Foundation for Rural Living with formal partners and a number of participants and links, is establishing a Rural Philanthropy Resource Network (the Network) to provide rural individuals, communities and agencies with the knowledge, training, and support needed to successfully expand community investment and charitable programs.  The Network will be based in rural with human and other resources collaborating. Professional development programs and a virtual network of resources will support local resources. Research undertaken in partnership with the Imagine Canada (Formerly the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy) will provide baseline information for the measurement of the impact of the program.

The key component of the program is assisting rural individuals to obtain experience and employment in the field of professional fundraising.  A rural community capacity building project funded primarily by Human Resources Development Canada will provide meaningful on the job skill enhancement opportunities that both contribute to community outcomes and lead to long-term employment.

Under the day to day supervision of Laura Overholt, the Rural Development Officer will fulfill the following objectives:

  • The completion of a Human Resources study in healthcare in the Huron, Perth, and possibly Bruce and Grey counties

  • Assist with setting of strategic plans related to human resources issues involving HealthKick and the rural healthcare providers in Huron, Perth and Bruce counties

  • Research and submission of funding applications for the funding of the HealthKick project based on information from this previous work

  • Development of Communication plan for Gateway/HealthKick
